Needle or dry felted ThReAdTeDs™ are not created using the same techniques as those used on other ThReAdTeDs™ , though they are still very proud to be one. They are made entirely of wool, the very same wool used to make yarn and threads that have gone into other ThReAdTeDs™ . In needle felting, barbed needles are repeatedly poked into carded wool. The barbs on the needles felt the fiber together while poking.

Combining this new dry method of the fiber art form with the traditional, ancient wet-felted ‘cloth’, as made by Ayala Talpai, allows the artist new possibilities by embellishing the cloth with additional wool needled into it, or, like these bears, bring three-dimensional free-standing sculptural creations into being. They are soft, but not mushy as they are made of a very firmly felted wool.  Pressing on them will not change their shape. They are fully jointed and each brings a little bag with the unworked wool it is made of. My felted ThReAdTeDs™ take much time to bring to life. When a felted ThReAdTeD™ is finished, you will find him on my "Adoption" page or on e-Bay under my e-Bay seller ID: threadteds
